Raleigh Welcomes New Police Chief

The City of Raleigh has introduced its latest chief of police for the Raleigh Police Department.

Rico Boyce, who previously served as the deputy of administration for the Raleigh police for over 15 years and was appointed as the 31st chief of police recently by City Manager Marchell Adams-David.

In his new role, Boyce will oversee a department comprising over 900 personnel, including 792 sworn officers. He will also take charge of the federal Public Safety Partnership initiatives and the Violent Crime Action Plan in collaboration with federal and law enforcement agencies.

“We are pleased to announce that our national search process has identified someone who has served Raleigh for more than two decades as our next Chief of Police. Rico Boyce has demonstrated that he knows how to effectively work with the community, and our process demonstrated the trust the community and the police department have in him,” Adams-David said.
